A Bit About Me

I am a proud graduate of Saint Joseph School and received a BA from Gannon University with a Master's in Teaching from Kent. I have been teaching for 28 years and love it more now than when I started. I truly appreciate the magic that comes from helping students find their voices as readers, thinkers and writers. My 3 children, also proud graduates of the school, have helped me to see the world in a new way as they follow their passions. I enjoy learning from them and watching them in action. When I am not teaching or parenting, I love to read, hike, cook, explore, do yoga, and spend time near the water.

Favorite Saint:

I love the story of The Good Shepherd for many reasons, and the way Jesus calmed the storm in the Gospel of Mark. His words, "Be still" resonate with me.

Why SJS?

I was teaching in a public school on 9/11, and it was very difficult for me to not be able to share my faith in its entirety that day. I ended up back home at SJS after that. I love the personalized education we offer at SJS, but even more importantly, the chance to live and grow our faith each and every day.

What were the qualities your favorite teacher had growing up?

She was lively, disciplined, happy, and determined to help us become the best version of ourselves. I try to emulate these qualities.

Favorite food:

I love Shepherd's Pie, a well-cooked filet, pork roast and gravy, and fresh summer salads.

Favorite hobbies:

Paying attention.

Favorite place in the world:

The most amazing place I have ever been (a few times!) is Ireland. I cherish my memories exploring my holy history in Galway and other spots. The United States is also filled with beauty, and Bryce Canyon in Utah will always take my breath away.

After School clubs:

I enjoy Power of the Pencil and Power of the Pen, where students can share their stories and find a home for their creativity.
