Good afternoon,
I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful fall weekend. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of our Halloween events, including the primary grade carnival and the middle school parties. The students had a wonderful time celebrating together.
Special thanks to our third graders, who researched and presented their chosen saints by dressing up for Mass on Friday. Additionally, our Junior High students honored All Saints Day with a special assembly. Divided into 11 teams, they competed in a STEM challenge, saint trivia, and a Pop-Culture Catholics Q&A, with prizes awarded to the top teams. It was a meaningful and engaging day for all.
As we begin the second quarter, we will be wrapping up the first quarter this week. We look forward to seeing everyone at conferences on Wednesday and Thursday. Teachers will review student progress, using report cards and MAP scores as a basis for discussion. If you missed our last PTO meeting, I’ve posted two presentations on Gradelink covering Standards-Based Grading and MAP scores.
Looking ahead, starting November 11, our school will participate in Volume 2 of The Friendzy Program. This social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum fosters healthy relationships and builds community through a Biblical framework tailored to K-8 students. Friendzy emphasizes skills such as respect, confidence, problem-solving, and communication, all of which contribute to academic success. Volume 1 was implemented in 2022, and we are excited to continue this valuable program.
I am also pleased to announce that, for the 2025-2026 school year, we will be transitioning to a new school platform: Digital Academy. This platform, widely used by the Diocese of Cleveland, offers several advantages, including paperless forms and streamlined access to student records. For families with multiple children, Digital Academy will allow you to view all your children's grades on one screen, rather than navigating separate pages. We will be using this program as we enrollment new students for the 2025-2026 school year beginning in January, and we’ll gradually implement additional features for the 2025-2026 school year. Having successfully led a similar transition from Gradelink to Digital Academy at St. Bernadette, I’m confident that this process will be smooth and beneficial for our community. As Digital Academy is a local company, we will also have quick and accessible support when needed. I will keep everyone updated as we progress.
Thank you again for your continued support and involvement in our school community.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Maureen Goodwin
Principal
