Dear Parents and Parishioners,
Celebrated annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, #weGIVECATHOLIC is an
online giving day that launches the charitable season and unites the Northeast Ohio
Catholic community in giving thanks and giving back on Giving Tuesday, a Global Day
of Generosity.
Your past contributions have been an incredible blessing to our school community.
Thanks to your generosity, we recently completed upgrades to our courtyard, including
landscaping, new furniture, and stamped concrete. This space has blossomed into a
vibrant gathering area for our students this fall. Additionally, thanks to last year’s
fundraising, we were able to purchase new Chromebooks, which are now enhancing
classroom learning across all grade levels.
This year, I am thrilled to share a new initiative that will enrich the educational
experiences of every student at Saint Joseph Parish School. As we look to the future,
we are focused on preparing our children for an ever-evolving world. One way we can
do this is by integrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities
into our K-8 curriculum.
In my years as a teacher, I had the privilege of leading a LEGO First Robotics Club for
girls. I witnessed firsthand the incredible impact programs like these can have on young
minds—sparking interest in science, technology, and engineering, and even inspiring
career aspirations in these fields. The skills students gain from such
programs—problem-solving, collaboration, logic, and critical thinking—are invaluable.
Our goal is to bring these experiences into the classroom, not just as an after-school
opportunity but as an integral part of our technology, science, and math instruction. To
achieve this, we plan to purchase robotics kits, coding materials, and other STEM
enrichment tools, allowing students from kindergarten through 8th grade to explore and
grow in new and exciting ways.
To make this vision a reality, we aim to raise $25,000 on Giving Tuesday. With your
generous support, we can provide the resources needed to fully integrate STEM
learning into our curriculum and ensure that every student benefits from these hands-
on, engaging opportunities.
We are confident that, with your help, we can reach our goal and take this important
step in enhancing our students’ education. Please consider contributing to this exciting
endeavor that will have a lasting impact on every child at Saint Joseph Parish School.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in our mission to educate and
inspire our children. Together, we can continue providing them with the tools they need
to succeed academically, spiritually, and personally.
In Christ,
Mrs. Maureen Goodwin
