Preschool

At Saint Joseph Parish Preschool, our commitment is to provide a creative learning environment for the young child. Interaction with other children and adults, in an atmosphere of Christian love and concern, promotes the healthy development of each child. Learning experiences and play activities encourage spiritual, intellectual, social and physical growth.

The program is designed to help the child foster a sequence of learning habits, initial adjustment to school, independent learning, daily living skills, and sensory-motor activities; the fundamentals of reading, writing, and number readiness; together with a physical, spiritual, emotional, and social maturity.

State Accredited

Saint Joseph Parish School is accredited in the State of Ohio and meets all requirements established by the Ohio Department of Education.

Subject Areas

All curriculum is fully integrated with our Catholic faith.

Catholic Environment

Saint Joseph faculty and staff work together to create a caring Catholic environment in a traditional school setting that encourages young students to grow in self-confidence, independence, and self-discipline.

Our program strives to build a strong foundation on loving God, service to others, positive social relationships, and a love of school and learning. Our Catholic faith is nurtured through daily prayer, lessons focused on character development, and age-appropriate religious instruction aligned with the Cleveland Catholic Diocese Pre-K Curriculum.

Kindergarten Preparation
Our curriculum is designed to develop and practice kindergarten readiness skills in reading, writing, math, social studies, and science, and is aligned with Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards, as well as Cleveland Catholic Diocese Pre-K Curriculum and Academic Guidelines.

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics) Instruction
Full-day students engage in weekly STEAM lessons that integrate learning in literacy with the fundamentals of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. Fun and exciting hands-on experiments allow children to explore how and why things work in our world while learning about the scientific process by observing, measuring, and recording.

Time for Play
The preschool facility features an outdoor playground, as well as access to the gymnasium. All classes enjoy a morning play break and eat a snack every day to help students develop their social, gross motor skills, and refresh them for additional instruction. Full-day students engage in a second play break before or after lunch.

Family Connections

Teachers prepare progress reports and offer parent-teacher conferences twice during the school year, as well as on a needed basis. Field trips and special events also strengthen home and school connections.
